For the second time in a year, our plans to take the Amtrak Vermonter were foiled. The first time it was my fault, a mistake revealed when Kate commented that I looked rather different in my passport picture from ten years ago. Outdated passport meant no Montreal trip, the train to Burlington being the first leg.
This time, it was probably Irene's fault. Track maintenance work meant that our direct train was cancelled and we would have been training to Springfield Massachusetts and then catching a five hour bus. Instead we'll be taking a flight to Albany and driving up to Montreal, while staying in Burlington on the way.
It still will be a fun trip, but I'd really like to get that train ride in some fall. Oh well.
